US M939 5 ton family of cargo trucks, so called for the 5 ton carried cross country cargo capacity of the basic version. Entered US Army service in 1982 as a replacement for the 1949 M809 5 ton, with about half of all the more than 44,000 M939 series trucks being rebuilt M809s. Replacement by the M1083 FMTV family of cargo trucks began in 1991 but the 5 tons soldiered on well into the 2000s in US service with many still in service.
M923 cargo, M927 long bed cargo, M929 dump truck, M934 expansible shelter, M936 wrecker and M931 tractor are all available.
