British Charioteer Tank 1/100
British Charioteer with Ordnance QF 20 pounder and Browning M1919 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. The post war British army had a mix of Centurions, Cromwells and Comets and the mission for defend Europe from a possible Soviet attack, against which both Comet and especially Cromwell were inadequate. With Centurion production running slow and in need of further development, about 440 Cromwells were converted to carry 20 lbr guns in a much larger but lightly armored turret as a stop gap. Withdrawn from British service in the 1960s but many were sold on to Austria, Finland, Jordan and Lebanon.
