French Véhicule Blindé Léger. Considered a light armored vehicle employed in reconnaissance and utility roles, the Standard version is equipped an AN-F1 or FN-MAG 7.62mm machine gun and up to 12 APILAS anti-tank rockets or Eryx short range ATGMs. The Reco version has a turreted M2 .50 caliber machine gun and radiological detection gear. The Milan version carries one firing unit and six missiles. Entered French service in 1990 and widely exported from 1984, the VBL remains in service internationally today. The Standard version ships with 2 AN-F1s that drop in to a hole in the ring mount. Reco and Milan versions have fixed weapon systems.
